In therapy...

You can talk about things that may be causing you pain, discomfort, making you feel angry or unhappy. This is an opportunity to think and talk about yourself and your concerns in a way that you often feel you cannot do with other people in your life. It is a place and time just for you, where you are not judged.

Counselling is usually a short term therapy option and tends to concentrate more on current difficulties. It means talking to a therapist who is trained to help you talk about yourself and your difficulties. You will be helped to understand your current situation better and move forward in a positive way.

Psychotherapy is more in-depth than counselling and a wider range of issues can be addressed. During psychotherapy, you will helped to recognise how your life experiences influence your current thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviour. This understanding will enable you to deal with difficult situations more successfully.
